SouthEast Café and Bar is another Cooly brunching hotspot at the magical South end of the Gold Coast, located a block back from beautiful Rainbow Bay, on the foodie corner of Boundary and Ward Streets.

Walk past the village mural declaring proudly that there are “no bad days at Rainbow Bay!” and you’ll find the comfortable terracotta and timber hang marked by the circular pendant signage and the heavy timber door, giving it a hybrid oriental-come-Italian feel.

Offering two large bench-style covered table setting and a scattering of umbrella-shaded stools curb side, this popular place caters for those ducking in for a quick caffeine fix and grab-and-go cabinet goodies, as well as those seeking to sit, relax and enjoy a dining experience. Inside the Tuscan terracotta and tan leather aesthetic and gorgeous burnt orange La Marzocco espresso machine makes the place seem cool and cosy at the same time. If you need more than caffeine to refuel you’ve come to the right spot. SouthEast’s clever and refined menu has made them a popular all-day dining spot on the Boundary Street foodie strip. Breakfast favourites include eggs your way, açai bowls, the bacon and fried egg brekkie roll and smashed avo. Enticing options include the crab omelette (with Warrigal greens, miso butter, tamari seeds, sweet chilli and sourdough) or the lunch favourite, South East cheesy (170g pattie, cheddar, pickle, onion, mustard, ketchup and fries).

The big blackboard shares the specials of the week – look out for their delicious Banh Mi with pork belly and pickled carrot, Ramen with Karaage chicken and Homemade slow-cooked lamb shank pie. Thirst-quenchers include some intriguing cold pressed juices (like the Blood Bank, Little Green, Orange Sky and Ruby Tuesday), shakes and cold brews, as well as Mayde teas and Chai on the leaf.
