Greenmount

At the Northern end of Rainbow Bay is Greenmount Point—a headland named by its Irish founders—that offers great photo opportunities and hosts the Rainbow Bay Lookout and Pat Fagan Park.

The lookout provides spectacular panoramic views over Coolangatta Beach to the north and Rainbow Bay to the South.  Pat Fagan Park is a popular venue for picnics and wedding ceremonies and here you are guaranteed to spot a Bearded Dragon, a Bush Turkey or a blushing bride. Pat Fagan Park also offers a drive-up car park, accessible toilets, shaded tables and barbeques.

A scenic stroll around the headland will take you past a multitude of spots, perfect for people watching, picnicking, yoga or quiet contemplation.  Heading north along the leafy Oceanway boardwalk, you’ll come to Greenmount Beach, tucked into the southern end of Coolangatta Beach and home of Greenmount Beach Surf Club—Queensland’s first surf club established in 1911, Club of the Year 2019 and home to the Tweed Heads and Coolangatta Life Saving Club

Greenmount is also a beginner surfers delight, known for its easy sand-bottomed break and clean reliable barrel waves, making it popular with learners and long-boarders.
