Dive into Summer Safety With Queensland's SharkSmart Campaign
Updated: Dec 12, 2025
Queensland’s summer school holidays are the perfect time to enjoy our world-class beaches, and the refreshed SharkSmart campaign is here to help everyone stay safe while making the most of our stunning waterways.
Whether you’re swimming, surfing, snorkelling, diving, fishing, or boating, the Queensland Government encourages all water users to adopt SharkSmart behaviours to reduce risks and enjoy the water responsibly.
Simple actions like swimming between the flags, checking local signage, and staying out of the water between dusk and dawn can make all the difference.
It’s also important to swim with a buddy, avoid areas with bait fish or feeding activity, minimise splashing when entering the water, and steer clear of steep drop-offs, canals, and river mouths.
Featuring breathtaking imagery of Queensland’s iconic beaches, the SharkSmart campaign celebrates the beauty of our marine environment while reminding everyone to stay safe.
This summer, make SharkSmart behaviours second nature and enjoy everything Queensland’s coastline has to offer!
