Bar Junie
Carrara
Updated: May 07, 2026
There’s a new reason to head to Carrara after dark, with beloved brunch hotspot Cafe Junie transforming into an intimate wine bar every Thursday night.
Introducing Bar Junie - the twilight alter ego of the much-loved café, where cosy lighting, vinyl-spinning DJs, flowing wine and elevated share plates come together for the ultimate midweek date night or catch-up spot.
Located inside the stunning open-air space at ABI Interiors in Carrara, the venue swaps morning coffees and brunch crowds for moody evening vibes from 4:30pm every Thursday. Think smooth tunes, beautifully plated dishes and a curated wine list designed for lingering a little longer.
Leading the kitchen is Head Chef Ryo Miyamoto, whose Japanese-inspired approach has already earned Café Junie a loyal following. The Bar Junie menu leans into refined yet approachable dining, with dishes designed to share across the table.
Expect standout bites like Burrata with cucumber, white grapes and a green herb sauce, JFC (Junie fried chicken), pickled tomato with bonito flakes and Tuna yukhoe with salty seaweed.
The star of the show are the large plates - a sumptuous wagyu cheeseburger on a bed of soy bearnaise sauce with skin-on fries and wagyu scotch fillet with terriyaki butter sauce.
The drinks menu is just as impressive, featuring a range of unique and traditional wine, cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic options.
The venue itself is just as much of a drawcard as the menu. With its crisp white arches, lush greenery and effortlessly chic aesthetic, the space already feels like a European-inspired escape during the day - but by night, it takes on a whole new energy.
