Sandfire Bar


Sandfire is a gorgeous tapas bar with a chic beachy vibe and stunning ocean views tucked away on top of North Burleigh Heads Surf Life Saving Club in Miami.

The perfect place for a casual catch up with family or friends or a date night, Sandfire is a quintessential Gold Coast venue which effortlessly combines casual with a quiet touch of sophistication.

Take the internal staircase just behind the entry desk and you'll find another world steeped in coastal charm, with windows open to capture the views and sea breezes, and decor to match. 

Seating is at a mix of dining tables with woven rattan furniture, lowset armchairs to one side and bar tables to the rear, so everyone can enjoy the views, whilst along one side is a striking backlit bar.

Cocktails are a house specialty at Sandfire, with signatures such as the Sea Pearl (Flor de Cana 7 rum, toasted coconut, salted mango, citrus, habanero tincture); Sandfire Espresso Martini (Benriach 10 single malt, Amaro Montenegro, Tia Maria, cold brew, crema di caffe); and the Waterberry (Papa Salt Coastal gin, strawberry basil infused aloe liqueur, citrus, sugar).

For something unique, try the Pina Colada Flight (past, present & future Pinas) and Sandfire Tea Pots for 2 ( sharp, honeyed Olmeca Altos Blanco, 400 Conejos Mezcal, passionfruit tincture, citrus, grapefruit, honey), otherwise there is a range of classic cocktails available on request.

The tapas menu offers a range of delectable and understatedly sophisticated seafood plates, including oysters, tuna sashimi, and North Atlantic sea scallops.

Worth trying is the Swedish prawn skagen (round cut toast with trawler prawns, house mayonnaise, lemon, dill & red onion, caviar & micro-herbs); smoked salmon blini (Italian-style pancake topped with cream cheese, smoked salmon, dill & micro-herbs); and barramundi en papiotte (sustainably sourced barramundi with Asian vegetables, chilli lime and garlic topped with parsnip chips & aioli).

There's also macadamia cutlets (lamb cutlet with macadamia & Panko crumb, butter mash, grilled pickled onions); Duck a L'Orange (62 degree duck breast, charred & served with potato galette & spinach with light orange jus); and pumpkin souffle ( double baked pumpkin with black garlic cream & rosemary salt, served with caraway biscotti)

Non-cocktails drinkers will also find a cracking wine list, good choice of beers and a selection of boutique spirits. 

Need to know - There's limited parking nearby on The Esplanade and alongside the club. Sandfire is a strictly 18yrs + venue.
