Haven Bar & Restaurant
Burleigh Heads
True to its name, Haven Bar and Restaurant is a hidden gem of a retreat from the hustle and bustle of Burleigh Heads, tucked away in a funky little precinct of cool bars and eateries on the cusp of Miami.
The team behind Haven are the canny folks from local Black Hops Brewers, who have converted their barrel aged AWOL taproom into a sleek industrial chic 'brewhaus' themed bar and dining room, featuring copper/leather style seating and cascading greenery.
Patrons can pull up a seat at one of the bar or dining tables and enjoy a tipple with a delicious tapas-stye share plate or settle in for an evening of dining and drinking.
Start with a decadent cheese and/or charcuterie board with pickled vegetables, artisan breads and dips, the perfect accompaniment to a beer, wine or cocktail.
Not to be missed are the delectable jamon and cheese croquettes, made with with Serrano ham, vintage cheddar and potato and served with caramelised leek puree.
Also highly recommended is the 18 hour slow cooked maple and hickory pork belly, tossed in rum-infused hickory sauce and Canadian maple syrup.
Another must-try is the honey-baked brie with crumbed mushrooms and Spanish potatoes or the kimchi popcorn chicken, which is also available with cauliflower as a vegan option.
All beers on tap are of the Black Hops variety, including a couple that are barrel-aged, there's a boutique wine list and the bespoke cocktail menu is well worth trying - think Espresso Martini made with Wolf Lane coffee liqueur & Penny Lane vodka; Australian Negroni with Wildflower gin and Old Dog Rosso vermouth; or Southside with Wildflower gin, fresh lime and mint.
Good to know - You'll find Haven a couple of doors down from Paddock Bakery and just around the corner from Black Hops HQ.
Need to know - There is free onstreet parkign available nearby.
