Common Ground
Burleigh Heads
Common Ground is a beautiful sunny garden cafe nestled next to Grace Loves Lace, on Burleigh's appropriately named Hibiscus Haven, specialising in bringing equally beautiful eats to the people, in a hard-to-match serene setting.
If there is a trilogy of foodie favourites in Burleigh, Common Ground takes its place at the southern end of the block shared by The Paddock Bakery, just a block west of Palm Springs and the Gold Coast Highway. This is the cafe that has everything you want—with the shaded picnic-style seating amongst the olive trees, leafy peak-a-boo hedge and streaming fuchsia Bougainvillea —it's aesthetic perfection.
Couple the lush and peaceful garden setting with an inspired menu of delectable, delightful, delicious dishes and you’ve found the home of the perfect brunch experience. Before we delve into the menu, please can we give a shout out to the coffee and the divine aromas of those locally roasted specialty-beans care of Common Coffee. Of course, you may choose to perfectly pair your espresso or latte with the fresh cabinet pastry treats—pick a flaky chocolate, butter or almond croissant or a fabulously fruity Danish.
If time allows the indulgence, then the breakfast menu is calling your name, offering spectacular dishes like the Truffle Honey Mushrooms with feta roasted macadamia and poached eggs on sourdough, or the scrambled Breakfast Wrapped goodness of eggs with spinach, bacon and cheese topped with a drizzle of BBQ sauce.
You'll be tempted by the Hash Eggs Benny and the Smashed Avo with watermelon relish and pickled onions on white sourdough, but you definitely will hit the brunch or lunch jackpot with the Zucchini Corn Fritters with broccolini, spinach and poached eggs topped with herb and chilli coral.
The peace-de-resistance for the sweet loving foodie would have to be the fluffy Unicorn Pancake topped with a stuffed waffle cone, fresh raspberry sorbet and cashew cream drizzled with maple syrup and sprinkles, on house-made vegan granola with fresh fruits. Simply yummy!
This brilliant menu offers all the extras and all the options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets and there is a similarly inspired children's menu on the Grounds. There's a bowl for your puppy and easy street parking. Visit. Eat, repeat. You may never leave.
And did we mention the beautiful garden setting? This Common Ground is truly divine.
