Aperitivo Café & Bar
Currumbin
Aperitivo is a café & panini bar conveniently located on Thrower Drive, that serves the appreciative Currumbin community quality coffee, delicious food and freshly baked focaccia and panini, honouring Italian traditions.
The light and bright cafe is housed in a charming weatherboard house a stone's throw from Currumbin Creek, on the popular foodie corner that also hosts neighbours, Tarte Beach House, Little Tommys and popular Throwers Fish & Chips.
With shaded curb-side seating under sunny-coloured umbrellas and easy parking on the street or out the back, Aperitivo is a popular early morning stop-off for those seeking a killer cup of coffee, thanks to premium beans and smooth medium roast of Melbourne-based roasters, Niccolo.
Along with home-baked breakie favourites like Portuguese tarts, flaky croissants and raspberry Danishes, Aperitivo specialises in the perfect Italian lunch combo—fresh panani and ice-cold Peroni. Panini, plural for panino, is an Italian sandwich made specifically with Italian breads, including ciabatta or focaccia, and Aperitivo serves up six of the best—the Caprese, the Verdure (below), the Cotto, the Proscuitto, the La Puccia and the Meatball Sub.
Definitely a locals’ favourite, the Meatball Sub, is served on an olive oil bun, with house-made Italian style meatballs, slow cooked Napoli sauce and dusting of pecorino.
Aperitivo's delightful menu also offers a selection of Italian specialties humorously titled "Not Panino", including their homemade Truffle Arancini, celebrating this Sicilian delight which literally translates to “little oranges”.
If you haven't found your delight yet, your nose will not let you go past the mouth-watering wood-fired pizzas, including the Potato and Pancetta, Truffle Mushroom, Prosciutto Di Parma or Salami and Sicilian Olive offerings. Pair it with a ice-cold Pellegrino, Aperitovo's own cold brew, Little Creatures or Peroni or freshly squeezed juice.
Finally, you'll want to indulge in the delicious sweet Dolci treats of the delectable dessert menu, including Italian favourites—ricotta cannoli, sfogliatelle or tiramisu.
Aperitivo also offers weekday specials, their cake of the day, and a pre-cooked take-home meals like pasta and lasagne. There’s also a limited grocery line featuring Italian-made cook-at-home pasta, Fragassi tomato and truffle pasta sauce and the must-have twisted garlic, oil and chilli breadsticks, to name a few. Before you say ciao to Aperitivo, make sure you enjoy the quote of the day from your delightful host Anthea: "Bon Cibo, buon vino, buoni amici and bon appetito!"
