Custard Canteen
Tallebudgera
Custard Canteen is a Tallebudgera treasure marked by its bright 50’s style red and white umbrellas and alfresco garden setting, shaded under the pandanus palms and paperbark gums that frame the breath-taking turquoise waters of Tallebudgera Creek.
This delightful leafy setting, adorned with colourful flowerpots, a scattering of lazy lawn chairs, pretty picnic tables and cool sandstone blocks, is the perfect place to park your bike, pram or furry friend and take a break. Order your delight from the friendly window staff and cop a squat wherever tickles your fancy.
However, it’s not just its beautiful Creekside location that makes the canteen so popular! Brought to you by the same owners of renown Bam Bam Bakehouse in Mermaid and Cubby Bakehouse in Chinderah, Custard Canteen is the third feather in the cap of these talented bakers and pastry chefs who hand make their puff pastry onsite. While Bam Bam champions a signature croissant and Cubby is known for its divine baguettes, Custard Canteen crafts a most authentic Portuguese custard tart outside of the motherland. Talle locals are happy to scout out a rare canteen side park to binge on the flaky creamy custard perfection, blistered atop fresh from the oven.

Complementing the perfect pastries, epic cookies and crispy croissants batch cooked and fresh throughout the day, the Canteen also proudly serves Marvell Street Coffee from Byron Bay in playful pink Butter Boy retro branded cups. You can also quench your thirst with fresh juices, smoothies and kombucha. And if your appetite allows more indulgence, the canteen also has an extensive all-day brunch menu with dishes such as the Talle fruit bowl, eggs your way, Butter Boy Benny, Bobs Burger, Furphy’s Fish, Prawn Po Boy and Owen’s Avo with a goat’s cheese and chilli flake twist.
So if you’re feeling peckish, the Custard Canteen bakehouse and café is a wonderful creekside option for food that can be eaten on-site or taken straight down to the iconic Tallebudgera Creek.
