Bar Evelyn

Bar Evelyn is a charming  artisan pizza, pasta and wine bar tucked away underneath the Beach House Resort on the corner of Marine Pde in Coolangatta. 

With the ambiience of a 1950's Italian restaurant in America, Bar Evelyn offers outdoor (covered) seating with red and green checked tablecloths and in the cosy old world interior a couple of leather booths and stools at the bar.

On the concise menu there's starters of anchovy crostini, eggplant dip with flatbread and burrata with charred capsicum pepperonata, olive tapenade, fresh basil & flatbead; and two choices of pasta (which is fresh made daily) - vodka sauce conchiglie (vodka sauce, mascarpone & grana padano) or buccatini amatriciana (slow cooked cherry tomato sauce, chilli, guanciale, parsley & pecorino); with optional side of cos wedge salad with green goddes dressing & pecorino).

Pizzas range from the traditional toppings (margherita, protobello mushroom; salami or confit garlic potato & tallegio) to the creative, such as spicy jalapeno & pineapple (house pizza sauce, mozzarella, fior de latte, fresh jalapeño & pineapple): pork & maple (pork sausage, house pizza sauce, nduja, mozzarella, fior de latte, onion, pecorino & maple) and venison chorizo meatball (house pizza sauce, mozzarella, fior de latte, red peppers & gremolata). And for dessert there's heavenly tiramisu.

The short but impressive wine list features a boutique selection of natural wines and for beer drinkers there's a range of craft beers, including two on tap. Cocktails mostly come with an Italian flavour and include Limoncello Margarita; Venetian Spritz ( aperol, sweet vermouth, prosecco, soda & olive); Evelyn Martini (Winding Road citrus and sea gin, Maidenii bianco vermouth & olive); and Mezcal Negroni (smoky mezcal, Rhubi rhubarb aperitif & rosso).
