Coolangatta

Perched right on the corner of Marine Parade at Coolangatta, Pokkoi offers up modern Asian cuisine with stunning decor to match.
Capturing the beautiful sea breeze and ocean glimpses, the spacious patio seating is as enjoyable as the internal space. Inside, with plenty of greenery, a wall to wall mural and moody, dim lighting, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped right into the jungle.
Pokkoi has designed their menu to perfection with family style shares, so you get to try it all! The dishes come out of the kitchen as they’re ready ensuring that every plate is delightfully fresh. Speaking of fresh, the Natural Oysters with Watermelon Granita are a must try!
Another dish from the “Cold” section of the menu is the Hiramasa Kingfish. This plate of food tastes as good as it looks. It’s the perfect mix of textures and flavours with a hum of sweet heat from the Nam Jim, a hint of aniseed from the Thai basil, all balanced out with a Tumeric Coconut Cream. It’s a party in your mouth…
Moving down the menu, the “Smalls” are a little heartier. The Beef Rendang Donut and Popcorn Cauliflower put a unique twist on the South East Asian inspired cuisine, bringing a little fun to your meal. But the real standout from this section is the Roast Duck Salad offering a delightful contrast of the warm duck against the fresh salad. It’s sweet, sour, sticky and crunchy, all at once!
Stepping further into the menu, you’ll find the larger share plates in the “Bigs”, “Woks” and “Curries”. Absolute classics like the Pork n Prawn Pad Thai and the Shaking Beef pair perfectly with the Vegan Curry or even a Green Papaya Slaw on the side. One of the most popular large dishes is the Twice Cooked Pork Belly. This melt in your mouth pork absolutely falls apart on your fork and is balanced out delightfully with a fresh, zingy Sour Mango salad.
Perhaps the most memorable item on the menu is the drinks. Pokkoi’s cocktail selection include the Lemon Meringue and the Fuzzy Duck both of which were somewhat magical. Reminiscent of Wonka’s “Three Course Meal Gum”, the Fuzzy Duck takes you on a journey of flavours exactly like Duck à l’orange and the Lemon Meringue feels like you’ve ordered a slice of the pie itself!
Good to know - Can’t decide what to order? Don’t worry! Why not opt for the Taste Me 10 course degustation? At only $100 PP you can sit back, relax and taste them all!
Need to know - Coolangatta’s esplanade has parking all along the beach as well as further street parking in the surrounding area.
