Tommy's Taco Bar

Tommy's Taco Bar, a lively taqueria and younger sibling for Tommy's Italian, has popped up at Currumbin, taking over the space previously home to Little Tommy's.

Open to walk-ins only, be prepared to wait at peak times as Tommy's is super popular. Seating is available outside under the red and white striped umbrellas or on bar stools at the bar and along the windows.

The concise menu includes delicious starters of kingfish ceviche tostada, potatoes with jalopena mayo, guacamole and corn chips, and jalapeno sourdough focaccia with smoked scamorza cheese. 

Nachos are highly recommended, with the option of chilli con carne beef or red beans with guacamole, mixed cheese and sour cream, accompanied by either corn chips or fries.

House signature tacos come with a choice of toppings including slow cooked short ribs and oxtail, chilli, coriander, spring onion and lime; KFC chicken, rancho sauce, coriander, spring onion & lime; or slow cooked pork, pineapple, coriander, spring onion and lime.

There's also tempura fish with chipotle mayo, coleslaw, coriander and lime or refried beans, chipotle, mushroom, tofu, coriander salsa, jalapeno and lime and a choice of two Quesabirrias (beef oxtail short ribs or mushroom) served with braised beef consomme dipping sauce. And for dessert there's churros with coconut dulce de leche or caramel custrad flan.

From the bar cocktails are king here, with a choice of Tommy's (classic, 3 chillie or coconut); margaritas (includign cilantro or coco-melon); and Mezcal (including Bloddy Mary and Negroni). There's also mocktails, a small selection of wine and Mexican and local craft beers.

Good to know - A kids menu is available. Pooches are welcome to join their owners outside.
