By day the breezy beachside space with al fresco deck framed by fairlylit pandanus trees is popular brunch and coffee spot Barefoot Barista and from 3pm Thursday to Sunday it morphs into Bruce.
The eclectic food menu packs a punch when it comes to flavour and sophistication, starting with small plates such as crispy jalapenos with chipotle mayo; cured meat with salted currants and tomato with lemon thyme oil and crostini.
Dishes to share include calamari, salt and pepperberry & citrus mayonnaise, roasted prawns with njuda butter, parsley, lemon & sourdough; Byron Bay halloumi with labneh, dukkah, honey & mint; Kingswood park sausage with mustard, polenta & chilli jam; and fried chicken with gochujang glaze & kewpie.
There's also crispy chat potatoes with cashew sambal, shoots & coriander; crispy cauliflower with lemon garlic tahini & pomegranate; and charcuterie meats with a selection of cheese, pickles, crackers, nuts & sourdough.
On the drinks list are a range of local craft beers on tap and a small curated selection of mostly Australian and a handful of French wines by the glass or on tap as well as French and Italian sparkling.
On the cocktail list are summery house creations like One Inch Punch (1800 Coconut Tequila, lime juice, chilli & agave); Yippee Ki Yay (Husk Pure Cane, passion fruit, lime & mint); and Caitlyn (St Germaine Elderflower liqueur, blueberries & prosecco); as well as classics like Negroni, Aperol Spritz, Margarita, Mojito & Espresso Martini.
Good to know - Dogs are welcome to join their owners on the deck. There is onstreet parking available out front or approx 200m walk away near Currumbin Alley beaches.
In a nutshell - an idyllic all-summer-long beachside bar that is one of the Gold Coast's best kept secrets.
