Broadwater Parklands Southport
Gold Coast
Broadwater Parklands is the Gold Coast's showcase cultural and community park, occupying three kilometres of green expanse along the broadwater at Southport.
By day it is a park extraordinaire for all ages, with walking and cycle paths, benches with water views, sculptures and public artworks, a 100 m pier for fishing, barbecue and picnic pavilions and a netted swimming enclosure with a jumping pontoon and an on-site eatery Cafe Rockpool.
Meanwhile, one end, the Washington Waters Park, is dedicated to play and features swings, a bike education track, mono rail peddle bikes, flying fox, Liberty swing for children of all abilities, a giant lizard and kids all-time fave the jumping pillow.
In summer months children can also cool off in The Rockpools, a fantastic water feature park featuring shallow wading pools with spouting water animals, cascading waterfalls, creek beds that are timed to fill and empty as well as squirting pop jets.
Once the sun goes down The Great Lawn is the place to catch free movies under the stars, concerts and seasonal events such as Carols by Candlelight.
