Coolangatta Gold

This years Shaw and Partners Financial Services Coolangatta Gold marks the 40th anniversary of this iconic endurance race on Queensland’s Gold Coast held from October 12 - 14, 2024.

Known as one of the most challenging events in surf sports, the Coolangatta Gold originally began as the inspiration for a motion picture and has since evolved into a prestigious annual sporting event. Over the weekend, athletes will compete in four main events, with the stunning Coolangatta coastline providing a breathtaking backdrop for this multi-disciplinary competition.

At the heart of the Coolangatta Gold are the two primary races: a gruelling 41.8-kilometre Long Course and a 21-kilometre Short Course. These races test athletes' endurance across multiple disciplines, including swimming, running, board paddling, and surf skiing, making it a true test of physical and mental strength. In addition to these main events, the weekend also features the Youth Challenge, encouraging the next generation of surf sports athletes to take part. A Downwind Paddle event, part of the Shaw and Partners Australian Ocean Racing Series, will also add to the weekend’s excitement.

The event is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to people of all abilities, creating an opportunity for athletes from all walks of life to experience the thrill of this iconic race.
