St Marthe Brasserie is a charming and authentic slice of France found nestled on the main street of Tamborine Mountain.
Just 45 minutes drive from the Gold Coast beaches, St Marthe is well worth a visit for lovers of French food.
Inside the chic ambient brasserie features polished timber floors, rustic stone pillars with fireplaces. art deco chandeliers, modernist wooden furniture and a scattering of pot plants to add warmth.
Lining the walls on each side are navy leather banquettes and there's also seating on the verandah outside, the perfect spot for a summer drink, lunch or dinner.
The food menu at St Marthe is designed to share, from the small tapas like plates that are the perfect accompaniment for a casual glass of wine or cocktail to the hearty main dishes.
One of the highlights of the menu is the crafted charcuterie plate, which is made to share, featuring a slection of premium cured meats, fresh baked bread, house-made pickles and gourmet accompaniments such as dips and pickled veges.
Entrees include duck parfait (with stonefruit & brandy chutney and fresh bread); ocean trout rillettes with cos hearts & cucumber pickle; steak tartare (handcut daily) with quail egg & crisps; and portobello mushroom pate with dressed herbs & cherry conserve.
Mains include dishes such as duck confit with Paris mash, green beans, beetroot marmalade & thyme jus; souffle of gruyere cheese & caramelised onion and green leaf salad; or 1/2 kg mussels with housemade fettucine, chorizo, chilli & basil.
Another highlight is the steak frites, house aged and char grilled and served with baby spinach, fries, béarnaise & red wine jus. Diners can opt for vintage housefed Porterhouse, rib fillet (grass fed for 8 years) or Wagyu MB 6-7 rump.
St Marthe is also one of those restaurants where you need to save room for dessert, with a choice of heavenly crème caramel (with strawberry and mint salad and sablé biscuit); molten chocolate pudding with vanilla mascarpone, raspberry coulis; or affogato (vanilla bean ice cream, espresso & wattle toffee liqueur).
Even if you're not dining, St Marthe is a top place to enjoy a drink and tapas-style snacks. The lengthy cocktail list features all of the classics, from margarita to mojito, espresso or french martini. negroni, whiskey sour, old-fashioned, pina colada, cosmopolitan and Bloody Mary as well as hard lemon mint tea (Absolut vodka & house made lemon mint tea).
The wine list is a curated mix of French and Australian wines and beers include a smattering of European beers together with local craft beers. There's also soft drinks and juices, tea and coffee and a couple of house mocktails - lemon mint iced tea or house fermented lemonade.
