Kirramisu Cafe and Restaurant

Kirramisu is a well-established cafe in heart of Kirra, located on the beachfront strip, across the road from the famous picture-perfect surf break.  

Operating since 2007, Kirramisu has a strong local following, thanks to its laidback location, the friendly staff and the sumptuous menu.

Sharing the same sunny corner as Haig St, this wonderfully located café has a covered alfresco area with umbrella shaded seating curbside. The iconic mural of a surfer riding the famous Kirra break sets the laidback vibe, watching over outdoor diners as they devour their tasty delights. There is plenty of room so don’t forget to bring your pampered pooch along.

There is ample seating indoors where the wall-sized mirror gives it light and even more spacious feel. Wooden surfboard-shaped signage and a huge arrangement of dried fronds and ferns, adds more beachy accents to this pleasant place.  

Kicking off at the crack of dawn, Kirramisu serves early risers from 5:30am daily, cranking out splendid coffee brewed from the exceptional Prima Tazza roast from Dimattina roasters. Rich, smooth and flamboyant, this carefully selected four-origin blend has a sweet caramel flavour with notes of hazelnut, blackcurrant and milk chocolate. Kirramisu also serves loose-leaf tea, fruit frappes, blended smoothies and fresh juices. 

Kirramisu offers an extensive breakfast menu with all the classics (from Eggs Benny to avo smash), as well as favourites including the Byron Bay Macadamia muesli (gluten-free and vegan served with mixed berries compote, fresh banana, Greek style yoghurt and local honey) and the Nordic stack (served on sourdough toast with smashed avocado, smoked salmon and poached eggs served topped with ribbons of cucumber, crumbled feta and fresh mint).

Lunch fare includes shared plates such as the stand-out Moroccan spiced chicken strips (served with a rocket side salad in house dressing and a minted yoghurt dipping sauce) and pumpkin arancini (served with pesto and kewpie mayo dipping sauce and side salad), followed by magnificent mains like the grilled barramundi (served with chat potatoes and green vegetables tossed in herb butter and topped with salt and pepper calamari) and the slow-cooked lamb shank (served with oven-roasted sweet potato, green beans and a rich red wine maple jus).

Kirramisu is also fully licensed from 10am, serving some standout Australian white and red wines, along with popular International and Australia craft beers. There are some cleverly crafted and classic cocktails, as well as a selection of spirits and liqueurs on offer.
