Updated: Jan 27, 2026

Aux Fines Bouches is an authentic French Pâtisserie, serving up mouth-watering treats daily from its humble and hidden base in Burleigh Heads.

Aux Fines Bouches, Burleigh Heads

The husband and wife team behind this sweet-lover’s dream, Chef Pâtissier Richard Le Deunff, originally from the north of France, and his passionate wife Sophie, together want to bring the tastes of Paris to the Gold Coast. Literally translated to “educate your palette”, Aux Fine Bouches does just that—it is a lesson on food mastery.

Thanks to this talented couple relocating from Adelaide to Burleigh, lucky Gold Coasters have the chance to experience a Parisienne pâtisserie outside of Paris. Richard’s unique talents, honed at prestigious palace hotels in Switzerland, and Sophie’s sheer passion for fine patisserie saw them win the Restaurant and Catering Awards Best Pâtisserie 2015, SA. And in 2018, Chef Pâtissier Richard Le Deunff was nominated as Pastry Chef Of The Year by Gault & Millau.

Today, walking into their pâtisserie, customers are immediately greeted by an overwhelmingly delicious smell of freshly baked wares that are near impossible to resist. All of Aux Fines Bouches products are handcrafted and baked by Richard and served with a side of love from Sophie. Customers know they are treating themselves to the best desserts in town.

Truly, the mix of classic and modern desserts have to be seen to be believed. Created by the Chef Pâtissier, the ‘Moderne’ series includes the L'œuf Fabergé (two above), the Aurore, the Intense (above), the Bombe aux Noisettes, Delice aux Noisettes, Honeycomb Sablé, the beautiful Bleeding Hearts and the special Sophie. The always loved classiques include the Merveilleux au Chocolat, the Royal, the Opera and popular favourite the Éclair (below).

Chef Pâtissier Richard’s individual dessert creations are inspired by flavours around the world and that is especially evident in Les Fruits (the Fruit Series, below), which resemble works of art and including La Pêche, Cerise Noire, Fruits Rouge, La Pomme d’Eva, Yuzu and Poire d’été.

Once you lay your eyes on the devine Tarte creations of the Emmanuelle (created 2018), the Dulce Luce or the Élégance (both created in 2019), you’re in heaven before it even touches your taste buds. Other tarte delights include the Fruits Rouge (below), Meringuée, the Agrumes, Noix de Pécan, the Poire, the Caramel Salé et Chocolate and the small but incredible Cocktail Tarts.

Their classic and modern Gateaux (cakes) made to order for special occasions are perfectly created to help customers create lasting memories. Choose from classique creations including the Duo au Chocolat, the Chocolate Truffle, the Royale (below) or the Sophie (specially created in 2011), or moderne favourites like the Baci, the Mango Tango or the Forêt Noire.

Also popular are the Croquembouches—profiteroles filled with crème pâtisserie which are carefully constructed with toffee to seal it all together. Elaborately decorated with fine-spun threads of caramel (if weather permitted), flowers, chocolate and at times may also be covered with macarons. Flavours include vanilla, chocolate, coffee, Grand Marnier and hazelnut.

Other specialties include the Bûches de Noël available for pre-order from 1st November each year, and the Gâlette des Rois (below)—a puff pastry cake, which has a small charm, the fève, hidden inside, filled with frangipane. This cake is traditionally shared at Epiphany, on January 6th each year.
