Zipang
Currumbin Waters
Zipang is a hidden gem of a casual Japanese diner tucked away in a little shopping centre in Currumbin Waters.
Customers can take a seat inside or on the covered arcade outside, where there's also a handful of tables outside the front door and enjoy some delicious traditional Japanese cuisine.
On the dinner menu are a range of Japanese tapas/share plates such as sashimi salmon (Tasmanian Salmon with fennel & daikon & roasted onion vinaigrette); pork gyoza; karrage chicken with chilli, corainder and sweet chilli sauce) or miso eggplant.
There's also pork belly and scallop; Aburi Beef (blow-torched eye fillet with fried onion; age-dashi tofu or green beans and cashews in black ben sauce, all of which come recommended.
Main meals and rice bowls include Tofu and Bean Curry, Grilled Salmon or Katsu Chicken Curry meal; and Yakiniku Beef or Karaage Chicken rice bowl, with all of the meals served with miso soup, rice and salad.
There are also side dishes of edamame and lotus chips and a dessert of sticky rice pastry-wrapped ice cream. (matcha or vanilla). A couple of kids meals are also available.
Good to know - There is a separate lunch menu and takeaway menu too. Zipang is lcense, with beer, sake and wine available. BYO wine only for $6/bottle corkage.
