Gold Coast Butterflies
Carrara
The Gold Coast Butterflies Butterfly House is a charming little place sure to cause a flutter of excitement in young and old alike.

Located in Carrara Markets, the walk-through butterfly house is run by Josephine Romeo, a passionate conservationist who loves nothing more than educating people about these beautiful creatures.

Inside the smallish enclosure is an array of colourful flowers, lush green plants and, of course, plenty of butterflies. Once the butterflies grow comfortable with the newcomers to their home, they quickly come out of hiding, fluttering peacefully about the enclosure, and landing on anyone who will stay still for more than a few seconds.

Children will adore taking a seat amongst the plants and tempting the winged creatures to land on them with a piece of watermelon, or other, nectar-rich fruit. If you’re lucky you’ll come away with a gorgeous photo (or hundred!) unlike anything you’d manage to snap in everyday life.

The type of butterflies living here varies throughout the year, but species you’re likely to see include the Cruiser, Monarch and Varied Eggfly. All in all it’s a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing experience.
