This Currumbin favourite amongst thrift shoppers was Lighthouse Community Services first Op Shop founded in 2014.
Run by long-standing members of a community volunteer team, Lighthouse Charity Op Shop services the local community offering clothing, bric-a-brac and household furniture and items.
Once an economic necessity for the poor and needy, op shops like the Lighthouse have shed their stigma and found a place in the hearts of hip, eco-conscious consumers.
No longer a shop of last resort, op shops like Lighthouse have become hipster havens where trawlers discover one-of-a-kind pieces for a fraction of the cost of fast fashion.
Added to the joy of the hunt, retro shoppers also know that buying preloved clothes and wares reduces their carbon footprint and saves treasures from landfill.
