Woodbox Café

Heading west from Burleigh Beach, just over the hill on Tallebudgera Creek Road, you’ll find Woodbox Café, one of the hidden gems of the valley boasting food for the body, mind and soul.

Drawing its name from its wooden firewood box, visitors to this delightful café enjoy homey quirks, like the velvet and patchwork armchairs, the art-lined walls, and the many interesting books and collectibles lining the shelves. Inside diners will enjoy the food for thought provided by the many famous inspirational quotes from the likes of R. M. Drake that adorn the walls. Whilst outside diners and furry friends can watch the world go by and soak up the gorgeous weather on the multicoloured settings under the porch.

Beyond the visual treat that is Woodbox, this conscious café is known for its Merlo Organico slow roasted coffee, locally grown and sourced fresh produce, wholesome organic delights and raw food specialties.  Coffee aficionados love the bean of the month program that highlights different exotic plantation harvest offerings each month.  Similarly, health-conscious foodies are drawn to Woodbox for its daily organic, vegan and gluten-free specials.

The simple, clever and wholesome menu offers Woodbox staples like their famous Smokey bacon and egg roll on a brioche bun featuring house-made smoky aioli.  Other favourites include the Deluxe veggie roll with house-made tomato relish, and the Forest mushrooms roasted in garlic-infused olive oil served with pesto and a poached egg and sesame seeds on vegan buttered toast.

Seekers of gourmet fare will be thrilled to find that the smashed avocado comes seasoned with balsamic glaze, seeds and grilled lemon, with poached egg and feta options.  While the Eggs Benny collection – with bacon, salmon or spinach mushroom deluxe selections – is sure to please particular palettes.  Lunch diners seeking heartier fare will love options like the Woodbox Nachos, Schnitzel sandwich and eye-fillet sandwiches with all the trimmings and additional sides.
