Piccolo Espresso
Miami
Piccolo Espresso is Miami's iconic home to delicious coffee, tasty treats and fresh-made juices and smoothies, located directly across from the beach on the corner of Marine Parade and Hythe Street.
Cycling legend Robbie McEwen and wife, Angelique, have owned Piccolo Espresso for over a decade and have seen Miami become a bustling food hub like it’s busy neighbour’s Burleigh and Nobbys. While Piccolo has enjoyed the burgeoning coffee scene, it retains its simple unpretentious vibe. For those just wanting to watch the waves with their caffeine fix or morning snack, Piccolo's shaded alfresco dining space is perfect.
With its prime location, steps from the sand, laid-back Piccolo Espresso is the place to grab a quick coffee and a bite before pounding the rainbow-coloured Miami stairs to Mick Schamburg Park and Lores Boney Lookout. The café is also a great kick-off or wrap-up point for riders, so you’ll always find an above average number of bikes propped up in the bike racks beside the Piccolo. The area around the café also has ample parking and is a natural destination for families and folks walking their furry friends, and if you want to grab a coffee with your pooch or in your swimmers and enjoy the view then Piccolo is your place.
To complement the lighter notes of the café’s coffee-of-choice – which comes from the Queensland-based Merlo roastery – Piccolo’s menu serves up tasty traditional brekkies till mid-afternoon. Enjoy toast, croissants, Bircher muesli, Açaí bowls, eggs on toast, eggs bene or avocado and feta mash with your smooth roast.
Lunch goers can choose from salads, toasties, wraps, vegie slices or a burger with a dairy-free smoothie and fresh juice to wash it down. Staff recommend the Green Machine juice (with apple, lemon, spinach, ginger and cucumber) or the Butterscotch Banana Smoothie (with white chocolate and whipped cream).
If you haven’t been yet, it’s time to pop by Piccolo Espresso for breakfast on the beach!
