Elk Espresso
Broadbeach
Elk Espresso is perfectly positioned on the corner of Old Burleigh Road and Victoria Ave, across the road from the beach and the main Broadbeach thoroughfare.
Elk took up its new beach-facing digs, nestled within the dining precinct of the Oasis Shopping Centre, in 2017 and has fast become a local institution and the perfect place to stop for a snack and a beverage as you enjoy a sea-breeze and sight the sand and surf of beautiful ‘Broadie’.
Look out for the signature Elk antlers and black and white umbrellas shading the al fresco seating outdoors or saunter inside and cop a squat at a mint table-top under the wall-sized Elk mural and hanging ferns in the industrial vintage meets coastal greenhouse interior.
Ask any local where the best coffee on the Gold Coast is and chances are Elk will top their list. Serving Proud Mary’s Ghost Rider blend for white coffee drinkers; along with the Supernatural Colombian Almanac for those who like their coffee black; and Rwandan-washed Stitch batch coffee; this place knows their beans!
Elk proudly presents a seasonally changing menu to diners, meaning there is always something new and special to try. Pioneers of the breakfast panna cotta, Elk’s breakie favourite is served with banana, maple, cinnamon nut granola blackberry yoghurt, strawberries and lemon balm (vegan and gluten-free). Other Elk breakfast and brunch classics include the potato hash with avo, free-range poached eggs and Hollandaise topped with options like double-smoked bacon, smoked salmon or garlic and thyme mushrooms.
Along with staples like Biscoff porridge, the breaky bowl and the breakfast burger, Elk always offers something new, enticing diners with a Bourbon Street waffle, a Byron Bay haloumi burger, gnocchi or vego Shakshuka, peach cobbler French toast, or brown-butter scrambled eggs with goats’ cheese and caramelised pumpkin.
There is a dedicated kid’s menu and there are more lovely lunch options like the wagyu, fried chicken or haloumi burgers, the vegan cauliflower toasty, the crisp-skin salmon, the beef cheek gnocchi or the soup and salad specials. Plus, for $39 you can pair your meal of choice with a ‘boozy’ addition of bottomless mimosas for an hour – deliciously dangerous.
