Tarte Bakery & Café
Burleigh Heads
Tarte Bakery & Cafe is a stylish little slice of France in Burleigh Heads' popular James St precinct.
Located on the leafy West Street corner, this delightful bakery and cafe serves breakfast, lunch and fresh pastries daily. Drop by for some delicious premise-baked bakeries or brunch and take a seat in the outdoor corner courtyard or in the cafe window where you can watch the world go by.

This European-style walk-in establishment opened its beautifully designed and detailed premises in 2020 and was a welcome addition to Burleigh Beach’s café culture. Conceptualised by the former owner of the popular Paddock Bakery nearby, Tarte occupies a prime shady corner location of beachside Burleigh, with ample classic French bistro seating channelling the sidewalks cafés from 19th century Paris.

Enticed into this gorgeously furnished space by the warm and welcoming aromas of fresh baked pastries, visitors order Tarte’s remarkable coffee blend and delectable delights over the antique upcycled timber counter. There’s everything to love about the details enhancing your Tarte dining experience, from the brushed golden fittings and tableware, to the mosaic tiled accents and vintage railway luggage racks and lampshades, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into Van Gogh’s Parisian Café Terrace or a Toulouse-Lautrec painting.

Having become known for its outstanding Single O Coffee experience and all-day breakfast, it’s Tarte’s mouth-watering menu that keeps people coming back. Complementing Single O’s fruit-driven blend of ethically & environmentally sound beans, Tarte’s team of pastry maestros roll out an impressive spread of handmade treats from the crack of dawn, including their gorgeous Galettes, beautiful Babka loaves, crafted Cruellers and Cookie Cups.

Diners can’t go wrong choosing any of Tarte’s house bagels or toasted artisan sourdough tartines, and the menu abounds with vegan and gluten-free options. Try breakfast treats like the Bullseye bang with house chilli sambal or the avo toast or miso scramble on sourdough. Or later in the day sample selections like the mixed exotic mushroom tartine or the New York sub with prosciutto and truffle salami on a sourdough baguette. Locals boast that the five-cheese toastie with truffle and mustard on sourdough is the best toastie on the coast. If you are a coffee snob or foodie and you haven't been here yet, it’s time for a visit.
