Cafe DBar
Coolangatta
UPDATED: Cafe Dbar is no longer trading
Café DBar is a well-known Coolangatta classic perched at the top of Boundary Street on the headland at Point Danger – the southern-most tip of the Gold Coast. With spectacular views out over the famous surf break at Duranbah Beach south to Fingal Head and NSW and north to Snapper Rocks and beyond.
Channelling the laid-back beachy vibe of Cooly, DBar is a rustic gem and community hang which spills over the wide grassy curb-front, offering communal bar seating as well as umbrella-shaded stools.
A spacious indoor seating area offers access to the huge communal beam and bench side garden seating, and leads passed the busy espresso machine, to the dining room upstairs and out back to another rustic cactus lined deck and the delightful adjoining boutique, Arche.
DBar is very popular with morning risers grabbing an outstanding coffee (thanks to Social espresso roasters) and a cabinet snack to have in the parklands opposite, either perched on the surfboard-styled picnic tables or whilst overlooking the waves on the coastal walk. For those choosing to sit, Dbar is a scenic and casual dining experience, with an inviting menu offering a selection of fresh ingredients sourced locally from the hinterland and south to the Byron Shire. The influences of paddock to plate shine bright in the breakfast and lunch menu’s which feature all the usual suspects and some surprising specials as well.
With breakfast covering everything from banana bread, granola and açai bowls, to smashed avo, eggs bene and a big brekky, Dbar is sure to satisfy, but try the vegan sauteed wild mushrooms, or the gluten-free pork and prawn Okonomiyaki and you’re bound to be blown away. Lunch fare covers everything from share plates, like chargrilled octopus and chorizo, king prawn linguini and Korean glazed pork belly, to burgers, wraps and Bali snapper, with halloumi and truffle mushroom sides and rocket and raw cabbage salad, and their famous icecream parlour for dessert.
Dbar also offers a clever kids’ menu and an extensive list of beverages, including thirst-quenching juices, signature shakes, moo juice, iced drinks, and their claim to fame – the Tim Tam Slam. Best of all, DBar is licensed from 10am, serving classic cocktails, beer, cider, sparkling, white, red and rosé. So if you’re seeking a venue with a killer coastal view for a delightful meal with a tasty beverage, DBar is the place for you. You may even get lucky and catch a live musician or two!
