Bumbles Café
Surfers Paradise
Nestled on the sleepy banks of Budds Beach (only a five-minute walk from the heart of Surfers Paradise), quaint Bumbles is one of the cutest cafés on the Gold Coast.
Spot the bees adorning the awning as soon as you pull up, pass by the alfresco seating and cushioned nook with stonework displaying its namesake, and enter another world of vintage books, gorgeous crockery, beautiful floral arrangements and honey for sale.
Originally, Bumbles was a convenience store, but creator Kate has cultivated its homey feel and although it may look small, it has plenty of different rooms for different moods.
You might like to choose to dine in the white accented Hamptons room (which seats 20) or the beautiful blue room (for 12), the divine library (seats 10) or the laid-back deck (seats 8).
Wherever you sit you’ll delight in the Persian rugs or fairy lights, the leafy foliage or the nostalgic photo gallery – every room is special.
On a sunny day, this café is a gorgeous place for a quick coffee (care of Genovese Premium Coffee) or to dine alfresco, shaded as you gaze out over the grassy noll and towering palms to the banks of the Nerang River but if you’re inquisitive, you are going to want to explore this exquisite house. And believe me, if you’re hungry, the gorgeous house has a lot to offer.
All Bumbles’ breakfasts are served with delicious panya sour dough breads, Australian butter, Bumbles own honey and grange jams. The breaky menu offers classics (like Granola, corn cakes and bacon and eggs), something special (like Ricotta hot cakes and smoked ocean trout) and dishes for under twelves (pancakes, and bacon, eggs and toast).
The lovely lunch menu features the ‘always delicious’ Queen bee burger, as well as Bumbles F.A.T. (feta, avo and tomatoes), Tim’s very excellent lasagne and crispy skin miso salmon with edamame and pickled ginger. And don’t forget to indulge in the weekday special of a glass of wine or beer with any lunch meal.
For those seeking spoiling, Bumbles hosts three types of afternoon tea – the petite Devonshire tea, the slightly more sumptuous afternoon tea and the completely decadent high tea. The extensive drinks menu offers every coffee and tea selection imaginable, along with cool drinks, shakes cold pressed juices. Many diners may also like to choose a beer or wine by the glass.
Don’t wait, bumble along the banks of Budds beach to this beautiful café today.
