Baskk Italian
Coolangatta
Baskk Italian is a stunning and sophisticated restaurant and bar located at the northern (Kirra Point) end of Marine Parade – Coolangatta’s beachfront strip. The savvy owners have given this popular spot (previously known as simply Baskk) an overhaul, replacing its menu of modern-Australian fare with a lean into Italian cuisine. If anyone is going to do pizza, pasta and insalata well, it is Baskk Italian.

It’s not just the food and location that keep diners coming back, this venue is simply a beautiful place to indulge, socialise or relax. With its sharp white fit-out offset by luxe natural décor floor to ceiling, this place feels like a luxury resort. There is some absolute curbside bar seating for those who want to sip a beverage as they watch the waves across Queen Elizabeth Park.

Step under the sunny neon lit entrance of beautiful Baskk into the beachfront alfresco deck, furnished with chunky limewashed timber bench-seating, invitingly lit by a cluster a warm rattan pendant. Further inside you’ll admire the driftwood ceilings, rattan pendant lights, seagrass cushions, recycled railway-paling flooring, linen draping, and a knotted rope swing.

Baskk’s secret weapon is that its traditional Italian fare is made using quality all-local produce. The refined menu offers Primi (Entrees) including authentic Antipasti, focaccia slabs, Sicilian arancini, lemon chilli prawns and Calamari fritti; Secondi (light mains) such as the Don’s cannelloni, vino rosso pulled beef and Italian meatballs; Grande Piatto (mains) of Toscan-style Ossobuco, Sorrento baked crispy skim salmon and vegetable parmensan grande tian; Pitta (pizza) such as queenofstracciatella, spicyvesuvio, and sicilianvegofarmer; and Cavatelli (pasta) including pappardelle ragu, pollorigatoni, roman straditional carbonara and gnocchi zucca (pictured above). Of course there is a wide selection of salutare (healthy) salads and children’s meals as well as Dolci (desserts) to die for. Top it all off with a grappa Digestivo and viola, you’re happy!

Baskk is also a fabulous place to kick back with a beachside cocktail or socialise over a beverage with friends. Whatever your beverage of choice, Baskk has it – from signature and classic cocktails (you simply must try the Baskk in the Sun or the Pink Capri), to shared pitchers of Pimms punch and Sangria, tap and craft beers, G&T cocktails, clever mocktails and an outstanding selection of Australian, Italian and French wines and bubbles. Why not drop in for two-for-one cocktails and live musicians on weekends.
