Koi Dining And Lounge Bar Broadbeach

Koi Dining & Lounge Bar (from the creators of The Loose Moose Tap & Grill House, Roosevelt Lounge, Maggie Choo and Glass Restaurant) is a local institution having occupied the corner of Surf Parade in Broadbeach’s busy dining precinct since 2007.

Koi became known over the years for its Sunday sessions (which birthed The Koi Boys) and its modern-Australian fare.

Undergoing a complete rebuild, the chic but welcoming Koi reopened in 2020 with a stunning open kitchen, huge wrap-around bar and sleek new design textured with stone and wood, waterfall marble and striking hanging rattan light fittings care of Three Balls Red homewares.

The outdoor alfresco dining area provides intimate nooks as well as booths for larger groups and the dreamy mint-hued interior offers a choice of plush leather chairs, bar tables and sleek banquette seating under clusters of greenery, rattan and cheeky neon art. This place is comfortable and beautiful.

Even more appealing is the menu which happily caters for any dietary requirements. Breakfast favourites include apple crumble porridge, avo toast with fetta and dukkha, the green goddess and Açaí berry bowl, the brekky burger and bruschetta, as well as pumpkin toast and Spanish eggs (with gluten-free options on most offerings). The pièce de resistance is the Mooloolaba crab, free range scramble with tomato chilli oil, crème fraiche, finger lime, watercress and toasted sourdough.

Crowd-pleasing lunch options include breads, antipasti and woodfire pizza, oysters and small plates like the chargrilled marinated king prawns and tempura Moreton Bay bugs, large plates like crispy skinned Atlantic salmon and the signature sand crab lasagne, gourmet sandwiches and chargrilled premium steaks including the eye or rib fillet and the wagyu sirloin. Many of the lunch offerings carry through to the dinner menu, with additional specialties like the roasted pork belly with palm sugar caramel, fresh herbs and chilli, plus the charcoal seared lamb shoulder for two, slow braised with whole roasted garlic, thyme, carrots, potatoes and pumpkin.

The dessert menu, complete with lemon meringue, vegan chocolate tart and Tiramisu for two, gourmet cheeses and Affogato, is to die for. Children will be thrilled with junior steak, bolognese, pizza or fish and chips with a sundae to finish. Koi also offers almost a dozen beers on tap, an extensive wine list and a dozen classic and signature cocktails headlined by the Millionaire’s Margarita with Herradura Seleccion Suprema Tequila, agave and freshly squeezed lime and lemon. There is also a list of cocktails to share like Magnum Mojitos, Chandon ’S’ Spritzers, Sangrias and Pimms jugs.
