Kurrawa All Abilities Playground
Broadbeach
Kurrawa All Abilities Playground is an epic beachside kids park with guaranteed hours of fun for all ages and abilities, located just south of Kurrawa Lifesaving Club.
Incorporating sensory, motor, imaginative and educational aspects of play, the playground features 3 zones – Sandcastle, Sea and Hill, connected by pathways and interactive community art projects.
In the sandcastle zone there are 2 large sandpits and 3 raised sand tables (designed for wheelchair access), with water jets to help with sand shaping, talking tubes, beach ball seats, a giant accessible sandcastle fort with a ramp leading to the turret lookout and seaside shapes including a sea horse, hermit crab, bluebottle and starfish.
The undersea zone has a mega accessible yellow submarine set below ground to create an ‘undersea experience’, sea creatures such as a giant sea snake, mermaid, fish and stingray as well as seagrass moulds for play.
Meanwhile the manmade hill features slippery slides and there’s also a climbing net, flying fox and Liberty Swing.
Need to know – Most of the playground is well shaded and there are also picnic and BBQ facilities. The nearby amenities block has a special change room for those with high physical support needs and their families, with access available via a Master Locksmith Access Key.
Nice to know – The interactive community art projects, were created by 70 special education students from six local schools and local artists.
