Greenhouse Canteen & Bar
The Miami venue (formally based in Kirra) is one of two Queensland locations, whose menus are widely considered to be the holy grail of health food, paving the way for plant-based eating on the Gold Coast.
Greenhouse is a beautifully designed space wrapping around the Mountain View Ave and highway corner, featuring subtle woven rattan pendant lighting and sweeping windows, which open out onto wrap-around industrial bar-style pavement seating. The recycled timber and a pressed metal décor of the inside dining area is offset by the glowing neon green signage of the ‘Botanical Bar’, giving diners the sense that they truly are in a greenhouse.
The team behind Greenhouse source all produce from farmers’ markets and trusted suppliers, with the belief that ‘food is medicine’ and it should nourish the mind, body and soul. Their motto is ‘anything you can do we can do vegan’. If the stunning menu is anything to go by, it’s true, they can! Reflecting their culinary principles, dishes are seasonal, organic, macrobiotic and raw wholefoods, using nutrient rich ingredients.
The wonderfully creative menu offers smalls, bigger, sides and desserts. The Smalls menu features Cauliflower wings, Korean rice cakes and BBQ mushroom skewers. Bigger dishes include favourites like Moroccan Chickpea Crepes, Jackfruit Enchiladas and Eggplant Moussaka. Seasonal raw cakes, Pecan pie and Rocky Road brownies are some of the delicious dessert-offerings. Tea and coffee are available, and the bar is also well stocked with tap beers, ciders, organic wines and botanical cocktails.
With such delectable internationally accented fare, it’s no surprise that they’ve amassed a huge following, ensuring that the restaurant is packed every night. Just as their street sign declares, Greenhouse is ‘Cruelty free and killing it’!
