Mr Hizola's is an opulent lantern-lit restaurant and bar serving up delicious contemporary Cantonese cuisine in the heart of Burleigh Heads.
Festooned with colourful paper lanterns, and with walls decorated with stunning Chinese artworks and banquette seating along the walls, Mr Hizola's is one of Burleigh's most ambient restaurants.
From the menu, small dishes to share include tempting raw bar offerings like scorched salmon with ginger soy & sesame oil or kingfiosh with juzu & green chilli, along with hot dishes like Singaporean chicken with satay sauce; Hizola's signature sizzling steak; steamed scallops with apple ginger & glass noodles; or sa cha prawns with fresh herbs & chilli.
A selection of baos includes pork belly with pickled veges & Szechuan aioli; tofu with peanut dressing & pickled cucumber or crispy barramundi with pickled onion & Asian herb aioli; while delicious dim sums include pork & chive pot stickers, steamed wagyu and mushroom dumpling; and honey prawn har gow dumpling.
Big dishes include black pepper beef with mushrooms and garlic butter; sizzling orange chicken with cabbage & coriander; den miso eggplant with coriander and sesame seeds; pork belly char-sui with apple ginger & pink mayo; sticky lemon prawns with chives & crispy noodles; and Shanghai curry with seasonal vegetables.
Noodles and rice dishes include the likes of scallop & prawn hokkein egg noodles with garlic butter; and Yang Zhou fried rice, and for dessert, choices include toffee banana with vanilla ice-cream and macadamia praline or yuzu creme brulee.
The drinks menu features a crackin' cocktail list, with house signatures like Kaffir Lime Margarita; Hong Kong Spice and Devil in Disguise (bacardi watermelon liqueur, lime passionfruit, cascade raspberry with fairy floss & mint) alongside Yuzu Lychee Martini, Spicy Mango & Coconut Caprioska; Yuzu Chilli Margarita and Hizola's Chandon Garden Spritz.
The wine list features mostly Australian wines, curated to complement the food as well as French Champagne, and there's also a small selection of sake, two Japanese beers on tap with bottled beers including Asahi, Tsingtao, Coopers, Heinekin and Stone & Wood.
Good to know - For groups, highly recommended is the Emporer's Feast, a sumptuous banquet for just $69pp (minimum 2 people).
