Currumbin Waters
Updated: Oct 06, 2024
True to it's name, Home cafe has the relaxed welcoming vibe of visiting a friend's home - a charming little courtyard cafe that is tucked away in the industrial precinct of Currumbin Waters.
Having taken over the site that was formerly Portside Cafe, the owners of the Currumbin Surf School have given the site a new lease of life with their chef mate in the kitchen dishing up some of the best food to be found on the southern Gold Coast.
Customers can take a seat inside the cosy dining room or in the garden courtyard, where doggos are welcome to join their owners.
On the all-day brunch menu dishes include super seed & almong granola with Greek yoghurt, roasted strawberry compote & house pecan butter, Bacon & egg roll (with Swiss cheese & BBQ onions on brioche bun; and eggs poached scrambled or fried with roasted tomato & sourdough.
Highly recommended is the chunky avocado on toast with poached eggs, whipped ricottta, charred red pepper & sesame sambal; and the crispy potato hash with poached eggs, bacon, romesco & walnut parmesan.
For sweet tooths, must-try is the overnight french toast (dark chocolate cremeaux, chocolate hazelnut crumble & raspberry semifreddo). And for something lighter, there's also a range of artisan pastries and baked goods available at the counter.
As well as the brekkie dishes, lunch time faves include crispy chicken schnitzel focaccia with secret sambal, ranch dressing)char siew pork belly banh mi (with pickled carrots, radish, green chilli & mushroom pate); and Home' Smash burger (double Angus beef patties, Swiss cheese, BBQ onions, iceberg lettuce, aioli & fries).
Coffee on pour is St Ali, and there's also Batch Brew Filter monthly single origins on rotation. Otherwise there's tea, turmeric or matcha lattes, hot chocolate, cold pressed juices, super smoothies, and sodas. Home is also fully lincensed, with local Balter beer on tap; sparlkling.rose, white or red wine; and a handful of cocktails including Mimosa, Margarita, Limoncello Spritz and Gin basil smash.
Good to know - Everything on the menu is homemade, incuding the sambal and aioli.
Need to know - takeaway is available. There are a small number of onsite parking spaces available.
