House of Brews

Surfers Paradise

Updated: Oct 27, 2023

House of Brews, located on busy Orchid Avenue in the heart of Surfers Paradise, is an American-inspired eatery and taphouse which pays homage to the humble hops and offers a huge assortment of local and international beers on tap.

Named as a nod to Los Angeles’ House of Blues, this fun establishment celebrates brews, BBQs and all things rock. And thanks to the red neon sign hanging above the row of bar tables curb side, you can’t miss it!

Inside this casual venue, you’ll find a subtly lit retro-style industrial space with exposed brick, timber floors, lots of rustic dark timber seating and a long neon lit bar featuring 32 domestic and international craft brews on tap.  As you peruse the labels lining the tap wall, you’ll find the beers range from mainstream brews and bitters to craft varieties including local favourites from brewers like Black Hops, Burleigh Brewing, Balter and Lost Palms.

Other favourites from slightly further afield include Stone and Wood’s clean and refreshing lager, their Cloud Catcher pale ale, as well as their fruity Gatherer brewed from mint and galaxy hops.  There’s a lovely Witbier and session ale from Madocke in Queensland, a few specialities like Fixation’s Little Ray Hazy IPA and Deed’s Peanut Butter Imperial Stout from Victoria.  Western Australia gets a look-in too with the Gage Roads Hello Sunshine Cider and Feral Mango Lassi IPA.  Why not try a paddle of six tasters to decide on your favourite.

If you’ve brought your appetite, you’ll love the American-inspired menu offering plentiful dishes of meats and mains including the BBQ grilled board, epic wings, burgers and sliders, pulled pork loaded fries, hickory smoked flank steak, dark ale beef brisket and the epic flamed Absinthe lamb skewers.

There is a chargrilled vegetable stack which is also gluten free.  There are six thoughtful child-friendly menu options, and you must try the Giant Boston choc chip share cookie or the giant candy tower for dessert.  Upstairs there is a cute roof top terrace with a great little bar serving killer classic cocktails, wine and spirits, plus there is live blues on the weekends. What do you say?  Are you in for brews, blues and barbecue?
