THE LOCAL ON MAIN BEACH HAS CLOSED.

The Local café and garden bar is a welcome new addition to the Main Beach café scene, centrally located on busy Tedder Avenue. 

Having just opened its delightful doors, The Local is bound to become a sure-fire favourite, with its friendly atmosphere, inspired menu and killer coffee. You are likely to be welcomed by one of the creators – Natalie, Mark, Sinead, Maria or Julius – who share a passion for good coffee and making all their food onsite. They clearly all genuinely share a love of hospitality and bringing people together in a friendly environment. 

The clean crisp space has an airy garden feel, thanks to the picket fence separating the shaded curb-side tables and the comfortable indoor seating, not to mention the leafy hanging pots and retractable roof shutters, or the tree-muraled garden bar out back.

Coffee goers line up for the premium quality espresso blend of full-bodied, Italian style coffee with a rich and warm chocolate flavour care of Merlo roasters. Passers-by simply won’t be able to go past the huge selection of delicious baked goods on display at their takeaway window.

The menu reflects the creators’ belief in good ole-fashioned, non-pretentious food and homemade style cakes, slices and biscuits. With a huge all-day breakfast of all the classics plus a few surprises (like the vegan board) and an enticing lunch menu with feature dishes including grilled barramundi, Thai salad, wagyu beef, the Local’s burger and salmon avocado pasta, covering all dietary requirements, everyone will be happy. They offer a dedicated and thoughtful kids' menu, too!

Along with all the coffee, tea and milk options, the Local offers a full page of tasty beverages including smoothies, milkshakes and fresh juices. And, better still, they are licensed, with a stunning selection of red and white wines, cocktails and spirits, bottled and ever changing on tap draught beers. The refreshing on-tap choices of beer and ciders include surprises from outstanding local brewers, and on our visit, the Black hops taps were definitely a hit for folks seeking a relaxing afternoon brew. Their garden bar is the perfect setting for a Sunday session!
