Choofas Smokehouse and Seafood is an American-style restaurant with a massive menu of BBQ seafood and meat dishes located in the heart of Coolangatta.
The laidback casual diner, whose motto is no shirt, no shoes, no worries', started life as a takeaway in Tweed Heads, attracting a sizable following with its combination of smoked meats and fresh seafood and homemade sauces and dry rubs.
The extensive menu features entrees such as buffalo wings, oysters, Choofa's chowder, grilled sea scallops, crumbed calamari, jumbo prawns in garlic & butter, or fresh local prawns (peel yourself).
A range of burgers, wraps and rolls including pulled pork or beef shoulder roll, philly cheesesteak, rib eye, chicken schnitzel, fish, prawn & sald or thick cut rump burger while mains include calamari, Humpty Doo barra, Tasmanian salmon, local prawn cutlets, cod or snapper.
From the BBQ there's a selection of ribs (pork or beef), BBQ stye meats (pulled pork or beef shoulder), served with coleslaw, chips, green salad or potato salad, as well as chicken tenders or wings as well as chicken parmy or schnitzel. Platters for groups are also available.
Meanwhile for dessert there's key lime pie, chocolate lava cake, waffle or baked chocloate cheesecake. Choofa's also have an in-house rum & cocktail bar, the Horn Bar, serving tap and craft beers, Australian wines, hand-crafted cocktails and more than 100 top brand rums, bourbons, whiskeys and local gins.
