Old Quarter has both indoor and outdoor seating, fitted out with minimalistic, modern decor. The crisp surroundings are consistent with the straightforward approach that they take to their whole business model across all four of their locations. Dubbed by customers as “the best coffee on the Gold Coast”, you’ll have to visit and see for yourself!
The reason why Old Quarter is so special and set themselves apart from their competitors, is their incredible dedication to ethical coffee. As a wholesaler and cafe, Old Quarter roast their own beans at their Ballina location. These beans are sourced from all over South East Asia and the owners of Old Quarter ensure that from bean to cup, every person along the way is treated fairly and responsibly. Sourcing the beans themselves allows Yose and Amy to follow the coffee from the very beginning.
The South East Asian influence is evident in the delicious cups of coffee and the array of specialty drinks on offer as well. The Coconut Cloud Cold Brew, including a sweet cold brew from India’s Araku Valley and finished off with a luxurious coconut foam - this is a must try! For the flat white enthusiasts, opt for the Cloud Nine Blend with beans from Vietnam, Myanmar and India and delight in the sweet and citrus notes as they take you on a flavour journey through the mountains of South East Asia.
Another standout on the Asian-Inspired Signature Iced Drinks menu is the Mango Matcha. An incredibly authentic cup of matcha starting with “premium-grade Japanese matcha” and adding in mango puree for the perfect combination of complementing flavours.
It’s not just the beans though - barista Carly, is a rare talent whose knowledge of all things coffee, the Old Quarter ideology and even latte art adds to the experience of your daily cup. We think the seahorse latte art is a highlight! The brand philosophy of “The Daily Happy” permeates every element of the coffee making process from farm to your lips.
