HOTA

Surfers Paradise

Nestled within landscaped parklands and alongside a tranquil lake, HOTA (Home of the Arts) is the Gold Coast's world class arts precinct and cultural hub.

A must-visit for visitors of all ages, HOTA is the place to enjoy everything from live performances, lakeside strolls and stargazing to movie-watching and art viewing.

Within HOTA's stunning technicolour tower you'll find two arthouse cinemas, two traditional theatres, and a number of smaller venues used for art and performance. Plus a brand new Art Gallery, spanning six levels, is set to open as part of the precinct in 2021.

You'll need plenty of time to explore HOTA's outdoor precinct, with sculptures and art pieces, the beautiful lake (which is open for swimming), a splendid Outdoor Stage that is its own work of art and an adventure trail that kids will love. You can even climb up onto the top of the stage's shell, where you'll enjoy some amazing views of Surfers Paradise.

If you happen to be visiting on a Sunday, you'll find the Bundall Farmers' Markets alongside the lake. Gold Coast locals travel from far and wide to these popular markets to pick up locally grown quality produce, artisan goods, handmade products and unique wares.

Throughout August and September HOTA's Fireside program is in full swing, featuring a stellar line up of live events and delicious food. Kick back on the lawn beside the lake with a glass of wine in hand and bite to eat and enjoy the entertainment, with Russell Morris live on August 22nd* and Queensland Symphony Orchestra on August 30th*.

Every second Sunday (on August 23 and Sep 6), HOTA's family-friendly Party in the Park* series presents live music on the Outdoor Stage. Bring the kids and enjoy gigs from great bands, a sausage sizzle and Storyfest adventures – the perfect way to wrap up your weekend with live entertainment and some quality family time.

And if you're planning a visit in October, internationally renowned and touring artwork GAIA by UK artist Luke Jerram will be making its Australian East Coast premiere at HOTA.

*Note these are all ticketed events. Tickets must be pre-purchased online.

No matter when you visit, you'll find plenty of fun things for the whole family to enjoy. HOTA is also a five minute drive from the heart of Surfers Paradise with its many attractions and wide variety of eateries.
