Maman Bar Kitchen

Maman Bar & Kitchen is a chic Mediterranean restaurant and bar serving delectable home-style Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine in the James Street precinct of Burleigh Heads.

An absolute feast for the senses, Maman features a cosy little dining nook with shelves of cook books through an archway at the front, while the main dining space has a bar with seating on one side, bowls of fruit and olive branches hscattered throughout and pink leather booths along the arched brick walls on the other.

Maman is french for 'mum' and that is the vibe with the food, which is all prepared onsite from scratch using local and sustainable ingredients where possible, resulting in dishes that are understatedly sophisticated and burstng with flavour.

On the menu, which is a creative fusion of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours, entrees include Moroccan Spiced Duck Cigars, coriander labneh & pomegranate relish; Bruschetta with hummus, 'nduja, chargrilled eggplant, oven-roasted tomatoes, rocket & chargrilled sourdough; and Scallop Moussaka with grilled eggplant, tomato fennel salsa, taramasalata & sea scallops.

House specialty and a must-try are the Moreton Bay bug rolls on brioche bun with crispy iceberg lettuce, harissa & lime mayo.

Mains include Stuffed Capsicums with beef, pancetta, spicy tomato sauce, flatbread (premise-made) and mum’s creamy butter; locally caught Market Fish with shallot mashed potato, wilted baby spinach, sauce vierge & crispy leeks; organic Lamb Shank Tagine, quince, sesame seed, preserved lemon couscous & saron yoghurt; and spicy lentil Middle Eastern Stew, rice and papadams.

Drinks-wise, Maman offers a curated list of sustainable wines and refreshing cocktails to complement the food, such as pink lemonade spritz or orange and rosemary G&T.
